Clinical studies show that people whose obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is not treated have a greater risk of developing other health problems:

High blood pressure

One in three people with high blood pressure also have sleep apnea syndrome. 43% of people with mild sleep apnea syndrome and 69% of people with severe sleep apnea syndrome also have high blood pressure. 1

Heart disease

Up to 76% of people with stable heart failure also have sleep apnea syndrome. 2

Type 2 diabetes

Almost one in two people with type 2 diabetes also have sleep apnea syndrome. 3 Studies show that sleep apnea syndrome can impair the body's ability to use glucose and insulin.

Resistant hypertension

83% of people with drug-resistant hypertension also suffer from sleep apnea syndrome. 4

Stroke

Multiple studies have shown that the risk of stroke is higher in apneic patients. Among people who had recently suffered a stroke, more than 70% had sleep apnea syndrome. 5

Obesity/overweight

77% of obese people also suffer from sleep apnea syndrome. 6
